S-402132 (with the "S" designating Savage manufacture). Ordnance Bomb proof/a circled "GEG" and "RLB" proofs of the U.S. The very front left side of the receiver is stamped "POL" ( which may have been the importer mark) followed by a small U.S. This example still retains some of the earlier and desirable features such as 1) the short 10 1/2 inch finned barrel with Auto Ordnance Cutts compensator 2) the detachable butt stock. This particular submachine gun is a very late Model 1928A1 SMG manufactured under a U.S. These Thompson SMGs were the quintessential classic submachine guns used by the military staring in the late 1920s throughout WWII and Korea as well as all the early FBI and Law enforcement agencies. This is a very fine example of a WWII Model 1928A1 Thompson Submachine gun produced by the Savage Arms Corp.
